A senior Police official who had solicited a bribe of Rs 50,000 has been remanded until January 02, 2019.
The order to remand the suspect was issued when the case was taken up before the Colombo Chief Magistrates Court today (Dec 20).
The suspect has been identified as a Chief Inspector at the Police Field Headquarters by the name of Ruwan Jeeveendra Dayas.
He was arrested at the Police Field Headquarters while obtaining a bribe of Rs 50,000 yesterday (Dec 19).
The suspect is reported to have obtained the bribe while attempting to reinstate a police inspector who was suspended from service.
