The services of Prisons Controller Lalith Kumara who was deported to the country after being arrested in Dubai have been suspended, Prisons Commissioner General J.M.J.W. Tennakoon said.
It has been revealed that the suspect who was attached to the Kalutara prison had taken wing to Dubai on February 03 in order to attend a party of 'Makandure Madush', while he was on medical leave.
The prisons officer had gone on leave after he was in injured in an accident while on duty.
The suspect has been handed over to the Colombo Crimes Division after being questioned by the Criminal Investigations Department following his arrival in the country today.
Mr. Kumara had previously served in the intelligence unit of the Welikada prison before he was recruited to the Kalutara prison.
