Services of Sri Lanka Ports Authority named essential services

Operational services in the premises of Sri Lanka Ports Authority (SLPA) have been named as essential services.  Accordingly, services and operations of the Jaya Container Terminal (JCT),  South Asia Gateway Terminal (SAGT),  Colombo International Container Terminal (CICT) and services of Colombo Logistics  have been named as essential services, the SLPA said.

The decision has been taken under instructions and guidance of Minister of Ports and Shipping Jonston Fernando, Secretary to the Ministry of Ports and Shipping M.M.P.K.Mayadunne and SLPA Chairman General Daya Ratnayake in order to facilitate the continuity of the import process of  public consumer items and  requirements, protective health gears and hygiene equipment and other goods and items  required for essential services without hindrance into the island.

Accordingly, services and operations designated by the Managements of SLPA, SAGT and CICT terminals as well as Colombo Logistics could be convened as essential services. Employees and staffs reporting to work accordingly, can also use their private vehicles when entering the port premises, submitting their national identity card, the relevant institutional identity card at the gates. The relevant institutional identity card can also be considered as a curfew pass to report to work or shift duties of the port.

Bus services of 07 main routes have been arranged for the employees of SLPA. The seven routes include;  Kandy mains up to Kegalle, Galle Road up to Aluthgama, High Level Road up to Homagama Meepe junction, Minuwangoda Road up to Diwulapitiya (via Jaela),  Horana Road up to Horana, Old Road up to Hanwella/Awissawella and Kelaniya Temple Road up to Kirindiwela.
