Seven persons were killed in two separate accidents that occurred in Alawwa and Ella early hours yesterday (22). A group of five persons working for a construction site returning in their car after attending a funeral collided head on with a load of sand tipper at Alawwa 10th mile post.
The car was traveling from Warakapola to Kurunegala and a tipper traveling from Kurunegala to Colombo collided.
Meanwhile two persons were killed and three others were injured when a van veered off the road near the Ravana falls, in Ella-Wellawaya road yesterday (22) police said.
The van which was heading towards the Ella fell into a precipice of about 150 feet near the Ella Rock Hotel at around 6.00 am yesterday(22).The injured were admitted to the Wellawaya, Sirigala and Badulla hospitals. Pix by Palitha Ariyawansa
