Former Southern Chief Minister Shan Wijayalal has been appointed as the new Governor of the Eastern Province today (Jun 06).
Wijelal took oaths before the President at the Presidential Secretariat this morning.
The position of Eastern Governor fell vacant following the resignation of M.L.A.M. Hizbullah from the said position.
