Shashi Weerawansa, wife of former minister Wimal Weerawansa, arrived at the police Financial Crimes Investigations Division a short while ago. Her husband Wimal Weerawansa also accompanied her. Shashi Weerawansa was summoned to the FCID to record a statement on a complaint regarding a land deal. Previously she was summoned to the FCID on May 28, but requested another date due to ill-health.

A Sri Lankan man was apprehended at Suvarnabhumi airport for attempting to smuggle wildlife out of the country after three ball pythons were found hidden in his underwear, the Bangkok post reported.
The UK government has unveiled a package of reforms to simplify imports from developing countries which allows for more garments manufactured in Sri Lanka to enter the UK tariff-free.
