Shoot out between security personnel and an armed group in Kalmunai
A shootout has taken place between security personnel and another group of people in Sainthamaruthu, Kalmunai a short while ago, Police Spokesman Ruwan Gunasekara told Times Online.
The shooting had occured in the backdrop of a search operation which was carried out in Sammanthurai, Ampara a short while ago, Mr. Gunasekara noted.
"Garbs similar to that which were worn in the video displaying IS members in Sri Lanka, along with an identical IS backdrop in the video was discovered during the raid at a house," he said.
In addition, 150 gelatnite sticks 100,000 metal ball bearings, a suspicious van, a drone camera, and a laptop were also discovered in the house, the Spokesman said.
