The prevailing showery condition in the South Western region of the country is expected to enhance over the next few days starting from today (Aug 28), the Meteorological Department said.
Issuing a weather forecast, the Department predicted that heavy showers could be experienced in the Western, Central, Sabaragamuwa, and North-western provinces.
Showers or thundershowers could also occur in the Uva province and in Ampara and Batticaloa districts after 2.00 pm today.
Meanwhile, the naval and fishing communities have also been requested to take precaution due to heavy winds especially in the North and South Eastern regions.

A Sri Lanka Air Force Bell 212 helicopter belonging to the No. 72 squadron has crashed into the Madhuru Oya reservoir this morning, Air FOrce Media Spokesman Eranda Geeganage said.
Update: Five of the twelve passengers on board the bell 212 aircraft that crashed into the Maduru Oya today, have succumbed to their injuries, the SLAF said.
