The Singaporean government today (Jan 24) agreed to provide technical assistance in curbing the smuggling of narcotics in Sri Lanka.
This was announced during a meeting with the Singaporean Minister of Social and Family Development, the Deputy Minister of National Development, Desmond Lee, and several other state officials involved in dealing with the prevention of drugs in Singapore.
The meeting took place at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel today.
During the meeting President Maithripala Sirisena had requested for assistance to curb the usage of narcotics in Sri Lanka following which the officials had expresses willingness to pledge their support in this regard.
