A 43-year-old Singaporean national who was attempting to board a flight to Singapore was apprehended this morning (24) at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) while attempting to smuggle out foreign currency amounting to over Rs.15 million, Sri Lanka Customs said.
The individual was arrested at the BIA's Departure Terminal while trying to smuggle out 50, 000 Euros and 50, 000 Brunai Dollars. The total value of the seized currency is Rs. 15,304,085. Further investigations are ongoing.
