Six suspects who were involved in illegal mining near the Saman Maha Devalaya (Temple) have been remanded until July 02 by the Balangoda Magistrate's Court, police said.
It is reported that the custodian of the temple and another worker at the temple were among the arrested suspects.
Investigations have revealed that the suspects had stolen ancient artefacts from the temple.
Police said that they had also recovered some gems from their possession.
