The Sri Lanka Tri-Forces personnel dispatched to assist the earthquake relief efforts in Nepal have so far provided medical assistance to over 1,500 badly injured persons, Prime minister office said. The contingent commanded by Major General Maithri Dias remains deployed in the Dolalghad area, a remote worst-hit area, about 60 km away from Kathmandu. According to Major General Dias, Security Forces personnel engaged in relief efforts are working round the clock with high commitment and dedication to help the affected. Army Engineering Regiment personnel have repaired many of the blocked roads in and around the Dolaghad area, paving way for relief teams to reach some hitherto inaccessible rural areas which house around 100,000 people. The Sri Lankan contingent engaged in relief efforts in Nepal comprise engineer troops, commandos, medical consultants, paramedics and sniffer dogs.
