COVID has killed 204 and infected 43,299 persons last year, the Health Ministry said.
On Thursday (31) five deaths from Dharga Town (72 year old male), Homagama (59 year old male), Galewela (46 year old male), Pelmadulla (75 year old male) and Colombo 05 (61 year old female) were reported. Yesterday also recorded 592 COVID-19 positive cases.
At present, 7766 persons are being treated at hospitals and COVID treatment centres island-wide. Meanwhile 35,329 persons have been discharged after recovery.
Majority of deaths and cases were from the COVID-19 second wave (Minuwangoda, Peliyagoda and prison clusters) which severely affected the Western province.
