President Maithripala Sirisena said that the SLFP’s Central Committee which meets next Monday would have to decide on continuing the current government, though he was in favour of continuing the same way.
“In the 100 day government the two parties remained together, even after the 2015 elections they remained to gether. With the future challenges the government should remain strong. My point is that the government has to be strong. My plea to them is to make the government stronger”, President Sirisena said addressing a meeting with Heads of Media Institutions and Editors.
The President said that Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe also met him on Thursday and wanted to continue with the government.
He said he had not got a request from UNP MPs that all cabinet members of the SLFP who voted with the No Confidence motion should be removed and such issues should be discussed at the party Central Committee.
