The Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP)'s Central Committee which met today has appointed a committee to formulate a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the forming of a National Government with the United National Party (UNP). According to reports former President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga has been appointed to chair the six-member committee. An agreement has been reached regarding the matter at the Central Committee meeting this morning and the party is agreeable to enter a National Government after singing the MoU.

A Sri Lankan man was apprehended at Suvarnabhumi airport for attempting to smuggle wildlife out of the country after three ball pythons were found hidden in his underwear, the Bangkok post reported.
