A group of SLFP's electoral organisers have said they are willing to join hands with other parties to fight against the policies adopted by SLFP leader, President Maithripala Sirisena since October 26.
Kesbewa electorate organiser, Attorney-at-law Rajika Kodithuwakku speaking at briefing held today (Jan 3) at the Public Library said they will continue to fight against the actions adopted by the President since the appointment of Mahinda Rajapaksa as Prime Minister.
"The SLFP is not on the right path" he lamented while adding that the President had not taken heed of their suggestions to bring the SLFP to the right path.
He also said that a majority of SLFPers were in disagreement with the formation of an alliance with the SLPP.
"Mahinda Rajapaksa isn't an SLFP member anymore. He was instrumental in SLPP's victory at the local government polls during which the SLFP suffered defeat" remarked Mr. Kodithuwakku.
Meanwhile, Beruwala electorate organiser of the SLFP, M.H.M. Amjad vehemently condemned the decision taken by the SLFP to pull out of the government.
"This cannot be done as per the whims and fancies of one individual. There are several committees within the SLFP" he said "If the President wanted to make such a move he should have discussed it at the SLFP's executive committee meeting".
"The President should reconsider his actions and act according to the principles of Sirimavo Bandaranaike" Mr. Amjad added.
Senior member of the SLFP, G.H. Buddadasa, also lamented over the current situation of the SLFP.
"The SLFP is worse than the party led by Wimal Weerawansa" he said. "We will continue to fight for an SLFP government by 2020"
