Non-cabinet Minister Harsha de Silva has said that the scheduled talks between the Sri Lankan delgation and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) have been rescheduled due to bad weather.
Taking to his official Twitter handle, he said that the meeting between the delegation comprising Finance Minister Mangala Samaraweera and the Managing Driector of the IMF Christine Lagarde has been rescheduled due to the 'snow storm' in the area.
Further, he said that the sovereign bond loan of USD 1 billion that was borrowed during the tenure of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa was due today (Jan 14).
All meetings at @IMFNews including #SriLanka with MD @Lagarde rescheduled as ‘snow storm’ forces them to close. Having lived in US Midwest previously I am surprised how such little snow can shut the Capital down. Jan 14, 2019: Repayment of USD 1 billion ISB MR borrowed due today. pic.twitter.com/uZfuyKIhiD
