Some Trinco families boycott consultations with OMP

News

A group of family members of missing persons held a protest in Trincomalee town yesterday (13) when members of the Office of Missing Persons (OMP) arrived for consultations.

OMP Chairman, President's Counsel Saliya Peiris and other members met about 800 families of disappeared from all three communities at the Trincomalee Hindu Cultural Centre. However, another group of family members of missing persons held a protest outside the premises, boycotting the consultations and claiming that they had no faith in the OMP.

Later, the OMP Chairman and several other members met with the protesting family members and urged them to participate in the consultations, but the families refused to do so.
