Son of former MP found dead

Police are investigating the sudden and mysterious death of the son of a fomer United National Party (UNP) MP in Matara. 

The body of 24-year-old Yasasiru Thisara Kumara Galappaththi was found inside a hotel room in Matara this morning (14). The youth, who was a businessman, was a son of former UNP Matara District MP Justin Galappaththi and the younger brother of Southern Provincial Councilor Chathura Galappaththi. 

Police said the deceased had checked into the hotel last night. An investigation has commenced as the deceased's family has voiced their suspicions over the death.

The body has been taken to the Matara General Hospital for a post-mortem examination.
