Speaker Chamal Rajapaksa today overruled objections from Opposition Leader Nimal Siripala De Silva and allowed a government sponsored two day adjournment motion on electoral reforms to go ahead in Parliament. The Speaker said that there was no impediment to discussing electoral reforms as the motion made no reference to the 20th Amendment Bill which has been gazetted. The Opposition Leader had argued earlier that there was a procedural flaw in allowing discussion on a Bill that has been gazetted and would be subsequently tabled in Parliament.
