Speaker Karu Jayasuriya announced today that there was no need to proceed with the No Confidence motion handed over by members of the Join Opposition (JO) against MP Ravi Karunanayake in light of his resignation from his ministerial post.
“There are no grounds to proceed with the no confidence motion now, “the Speaker told the House.
The JO handed in the motion to the Secretary General of Parliament last week after Mr. Karunanayake’s alleged connection with Arjun Aloysius, the man at the center of the central bank bond issue.
