A special religious prayer called Ashirwada Pooja (Blessing Ceremony) was held at the Kelaniya Raja Maha Vihara on Tuesday to mark the President Maithripala Sirisena’s completion of 10,000 days in parliamentary political life as well as to invoke blessings on the country and the people.
The Ministry of Mass media organized this Blessing Ceremony under the guidance of the Chief Incumbent of the Kelaniya Raja Maha Vihara Ven. Dr Kollupitiye Mahinda Sangarakkitha Thero.
The Maha Sangha including the Chief Sanghanayaka Thera of Gampaha, Ven. Kotuwila Vimalakiththi Nayaka Thera, the Chief incumbent of Sri Pada, Ven. Bengamuwe Dhammadinna Thera, Ven. Kotapola Amarakitti Nayaka Thera, Ministers and MPs, State officials, foreign delegates and many others participated in this religious Ceremony. President Maithripala Sirisena became a member of the parliament (MP) on 15th February 1989.
