Speaker Karu Jayasuriya has called for a special party leaders meeting at the Parliamentary complex today at 11.30 am this morning.
Parliament is due to reconvene at 1:30pm this afternoon after proceedings were adjourned last morning following a tense situation that also saw Members of Parliament clash with one another.
Following a meeting last eveing President Maithripala Sirisena requested the party leaders representing the United National Front, the Tamil National Alliance and Speakerto remove the first clause in the Motion tabled against Mahinda Rajapaksa and his Cabinet of Ministers on Wednesday, and present the No-Confidence Motion in Parliament.
A vote by name on the Motion is also expected to be taken up.
