A special traffic plan will be in effect due to the perahera of the Gatabaruwa Raja Maha Viharaya which is expected to get underway along the Deniyaya-Akuressa road today and tomorrow (Sept 13).
The procession is expected to take place from 2 pm to 10 pm on both days.
Accordingly, police have requested the public to use the following alternative routes during this time period;
Heavy vehicles travelling from Akuressa to Deniyaya
Travel towards Pasgoda town through Pasgoda Road from the Pitabeddara junction, and reach Deniyaya junction through Matara-Kotapola Road, Urubokka, Beralapanathara, and Thalapalakanda road.
Light vehicles travelling from Akuressa to Deniyaya
Turn to Bengamuwa Road from Galdola junction, and head towards Deniyaya through Kosmodara and then across Korawa Road and the T.R.I. junction
Heavy vehicles travelling from Deniyaya to Akuressa
Reach Beralapanathara town after taking a turn to Thalapalakanda road from the Deniyaya Akuressa road, travel across the Kotapola-Matara road, Urubokk, Pasgoda, Siyambalagoda road, Pitabeddara town and then towards Akuressa.
Light vehicles travelling from Deniyaya to Akuressa
Reach Kosmodara after turning towards Korawa road from the T.R.I. junction, travel across Kotapola, Bengamuwa road, Lapdola junction and head towards Akuressa.
