A Sri Lankan parliamentary delegation representing the Sri Lanka - Swiss Parliamentary Friendship Association (SLSPFA) visited Geneva on October 18 during the sidelines of a visit to Switzerland.
The delegation which toured the country from October 14 to 20, were welcomed to a high tea reception by Ambassador A.L.A. Azeez and the staff at the Permanent Mission of Sri Lanka, the Sri Lanka Permanent mission noted in a release.
They also held talks with experts at the Geneva International Center for Humanitarian Demining (GICHD), the Geneva Centre for Security Policy (GCSP), the Geneva Centre for the Democratic Control of Armed Forces (DCAF), and the office of the UN commissioner for human rights.
They were also hosted to a lunch by the permanent representative of Switzerland to Geneva, following their visit to the UN head office.
The delegation also discussed a wide range of matters concerning bilateral significance with MPs and officials in Switzerland while studying the political administration system in the country.
The Sri Lankan delegation consisted of MPs Ananda Kumarasiri, Jayampathy Wickramaratne, Seenithamby Yoheswaran, J.C. Alawathuwala, Edward Gunasekara, Dr. Sudarshini Fernandopulle, Prof. Edward Gunasekara, Prof. Ashu Marasinghe, Bimal Ratnayake, Charles Nirmalanthan, K.K. Piyadasa, Sujith Perera and Ishak Rahuman.

Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa is due to vacate his official residence at Wijerama Mawatha, Colombo this morning, a Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) source said.
The Presidents’ Entitlements (Repeal) Bill was passed by a majority of 150 in parliament today. However the opposition MP’s were absent during the voting.
