The PCR test that was carried out during post-mortem on a 68-year-old female from Jampata street, Colombo revealed that the deceased tested positive for Coronavirus (COVID-19) making it the 22nd COVID-related death in the country, Government Information Department said.
With 430 persons currently under investigation in hospitals, 5,783 active cases are reported so far raising the total number of cases to 11, 335, according to the Health Promotion Bureau of the Health Ministry.
5,581 persons have been recovered from the virus and discharged so far.
