A Sri Lankan man in Brisbane, who is a chef by profession has been accused of a spree of sexual assaults while posing as a ride-share driver, the Daily Mail reported.
The man received bail despite police fears he will continue to prey on vulnerable women, the report claimed.
Over a two-week period in September, the 41-year-old man allegedly locked four women, aged 23-32, in his car and sexually assaulted them.
The man, a chef by trade and, according to the Courier Mail, a Sri Lankan married father of two, is accused of picking them up from Brisbane's nightclub district Fortitude Valley and assaulting them while driving them to their homes.
He convinced the women he was an Uber driver but had no association with any such service, police said.
The women told police they had been locked inside his vehicle and feared for their safety because he was much bigger than them.
Police have said they feared the man would continue to target women in the Brisbane City and Fortitude Valley areas if allowed to go free.
After two women went to police, the rest of the victims followed after a public appeal.
