Sri Lanka's first ancient technology museum to be opened tomorrow in Polonnaruwa

Sri Lanka's first ancient technology museum will be declared open by President Maithripala Sirisena in Polonnaruwa tomorrow (Jul 3).

The museum built at a cost of Rs 900 million is expected to create awareness on ancient technology among the people, the President's Media Division (PMD) said in a press release.

The release noted that the museum will be located in a three-storeyed building and would house artefacts including the history of the Polonnaruwa kingdom.

Material on architecture, frescoes, sculptures, woodcraft, textile, naval and arithmetic related matters will be made available in the first floor of the building.

The building will also comprise a lecture hall, a souvenir shop, the PMD noted.

Information at the museum will be made available in all three languages namely English, Sinhala, and Tamil.
