Sri Lanka's High Commissioner-Designate to Singapore Sashikala Premawardhane assumed duties at the Sri Lankan High Commission in Singapore today (June 24).
Ms. Premawardhane had assumed duties after a ceremony which included religious observances, the High Commission of Sri Lanka in Singapore said.
Following her appointment, the High Commissioner-designate had emphasised the need to promote trade and investment between the Sri Lanka and Singapore while enhancing bilateral relations between the two countries.
Since joining the foreign service in 1998, Ms. Premawardhane has served in various capacities including the Acting High Commissioner of Sri Lanka in Australia
High Commissioner-designate Premawardhane holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of Pune, India and a Masters in Conflict and Peace Studies from the University of Colombo. She is a past pupil of Bishop’s College, Colombo.
