Valaichchenai magistrate courts today granted bail to State Minister M. L. A. M. Hizbullah and four others including his son over corruption charges filed by police over construction of a private campus in Vakari, Batticaloa. They are accused of smuggling Rs 100 million worth engine parts and other resources purchased for the construction of a private university.
All accused persons were granted bail under the condition of Rs 200,000 worth two surety bail and Rs 2.5 million worth personal bail for each. The courts also barred foreign travels for all suspects and instructed that permission should be granted from Colombo District Courts if any of them planning to leave the country. The case is postponed to October 3.
