The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) informed court today (Dec 2) that statements were being recorded from the Navy's Ground Operations Director, Rear Admiral Serasinghe.
This was in regard to the case where the main witness regarding the abduction and disappearance of 11 youths in an alleged Navy abduction racket was allegedly threatened and obstructed. The CID made this observation before the Fort Magistrate Ranga Dissanayake when the case was taken up before the court today.
The Court was informed that the main witness Lieutenant Commander Krishantha Welagedara informed the CID's Senior DIG Ravi Seneviratne regarding these threats through statements recorded according to an affidavit.
