A total of 21 Agunukolapelassa prison inmates were apprehended during February for possessing and attempting to smuggle banned items into the prison.
The inmates were apprehended by Special Task Force (STF) personnel and prison officials and have been sent to the prison's disciplinary committee for further action.
Eleven inmates out of the total 21 are currently serving imprisonment terms ranging from three to six months while court cases pertaining to the other suspects are still ongoing.
Mobile phones, SIM cards, cash, tobacco and cigarettes were some of the items that were confiscated from the prisoners.
