A set of explosives including a Rocket-Propelled Grenade (RPG) launcher have been found inside a well in Illupukadavai in Mannar this evening, police said. At least fourteen pressure mines, 21 bombs, mortar ammo among the explosive items found.
Earlier Illupaikadavai police in Mannar informed the Mannar magistrate that explosives were buried in a land belong to Agriculture Services centre. The building was used by police as a regional police station since 2008.
Mannar magistrate A.G.Alexraja who was present when the weapons were exhumed, ordered the police to defuse the weapons and make sure the public safety.
