An anonymous caller who had contacted the Vice Chancellor of the Sri Jayawardenapura university and falsely warned of impending bomb attacks in and around the university, has been remanded until May 21.
The caller, who was later identified as a university student was ordered to be remanded after being produced before the Nugegoda Magistrate's Court yesterday (May 16).
During the hearing before Additional Magistrate Haris Palpola, police told court that the student had called the Vice-Chancellor and warned of a series of explosions which would happen both in and outside the univeristy.
The suspect has been identified as a third year medical student by the name of D. Prasanna Weerasuriya, a 27-year old resident of Kandewatta, Nugegoda.
