Student counsellors will be appointed across all national and provincial schools this month, Education Minister Akila Viraj Kariywasam said.
The Education Minister said that 2,000 counsellors will receive their appointments and would be tasked with primarily counselling those affected by the recent terror attacks.
These counsellors would however attend to the general needs of the children as well, Minister Kariyawasam noted.
Provincial schools with more than 1000 students will receive one counsellor each while 310 national schools will receive the same, he explained.
