The police have called on students not to engage in behaviour that tarnishes the good name of their respective schools during the coming "Big Match" cricket season.
A discussion organized by the Education Ministry to brief principals, representatives of past pupils' associations and prefects of all nationals schools holding big match cricket encounters was held at the Education Ministry premises on Friday (28).
Senior police officers who took part in the discussion urged school authorities, past pupils' associations and school prefects to work together to prevent students from engaging in rowdy and reckless behaviour that poses danger and inconvenience to both the students and other members of the publc.
Police urged students not to engage in ill-disciplined behaviour such as harassing school girls, forcibly entering girls' schools, harassing members of the public on the roads and engaging in "hat collections." They noted that such behaviour that tarnishes their schools' reputations and urged students to behave in a way that safeguards the repuation of their schools.
However, police warned that the law will be strictly enforced on any students who engage in unruly behaviour either while engaging in vehicle parades connected to big matches or on any other occasion.
