An officer attached to the Puttalam District Crimes Prevention Unit has been hospitalised after he was shot by a gun used to hunt animals yesterday (Feb 19).
The victim who has been identified as a Sub Police Inspector by the name of Maduranga is currently receiving treatement at the Puttalam Base Hospital.
The incident had taken place when the police officer was on an inspection raid along with a few other policers officers at an illegal distillery in Anamaduwa-Periyakulam. However, the other personnel managed to escape unhurt.
Anamaduwa Police are currently carrying out investigatings to identify the individual who had opened fire at the victim.
