The sun will be directly overhead Sri Lanka in several parts in the Northern Province today (Aug 27) and on September 07, the Meteorological Department said.
Accordingly, the sun will be positioned above the Nainativu, Allaipiddy, Mandaitivu, Kilali, Pallai, and the Marutadikulam areas at around 12:15 pm today.
However, the Department noted that the prevailing showery condition in South-western part of the country is expected to enhance over the next few days starting from tomorrow.
Showers or thundershowers could occur in the Western, Central, Sabaragamuwa, Southern and North-western provinces within the day.

A Sri Lanka Air Force Bell 212 helicopter belonging to the No. 72 squadron has crashed into the Madhuru Oya reservoir this morning, Air FOrce Media Spokesman Eranda Geeganage said.
Update: Five of the twelve passengers on board the bell 212 aircraft that crashed into the Maduru Oya today, have succumbed to their injuries, the SLAF said.
