The Meteorology Department has said that the sun will be directly above Sri Lanka from today (Apr 05) until April 15.
This is due to the northwards movement of the sun which will result in it being positioned directly over the latitudes of Sri Lanka.
Accordingly, the sun will be directly over the Matara, Dickwella, Kekanadura, Kotawila, Midigama areas at around 12:12 tomorrow, the Department said.
Further, it is noted the sun will be directly over Sri Lanka on two occasions this year.
The second occasion would be in August or September when the sun is travelling southwards, the Department of Meterology predicted.
