Suspect arrested with T56 weapons, grenades

A 30-year-old suspect has been arrested by police at Heenatiyana in Negombo with several firearms and explosive items. Police said two T56 firearms, a live handgrenade and a bomb were among the items recovered from the suspect's possession. 

A stock of live ammunition including 263 rounds of T56 ammunition, 25 rifle rounds and two magazines were also found. 

The suspect is a resident of Minuwangoda. Police said another individual alleged to have provided the weapons to the suspect has been identified and investigations are ongoing to arrest him.
