A suspect wanted for 20 crimes including rape has been arrested by Eppawala police.
Police Media Unit stated that the suspect was arrested while traveling in a car on Monday evening following a tip-off of a suspicious individual.
Further investigations revealed that he was wanted in connection to at least 20 crimes, including one case rape and another of abduction and assault. A special team from the Anuradhapura police conducted a thorough search of the car taken into custody and recovered a foreign made micro pistol along with a magazine and three bullets.
The arrested suspect is a 39-year-old from Gonahena, Vebada. He is currently being questioned under a 48-hour detention order.
