An individual who attempted to bribe a police officer-in-charge (OIC) to release a suspect linked to the banned National Thowheed Jamath (NTJ) group has been further remanded until June 11.
The order was issued when the suspect was produced before Colombo Chief Magistrate Lanka Jayaratne today (Jun 04).
Preliminary investigations have shown that large sums of money had been deposited to the suspect's bank account, Police told court adding that investigations on the individual have not concluded.
The suspect who attempted to bribe the OIC of the Horowpathana Police has been identified as Abdul Ghafoor Mohammed, a resident of Horowpathana.
Meanwhile, the NTJ group's Colombo District leader Mohamed Fawas was also ordered to be remanded until June 18.
