Eight persons accused of involvement in an elephant racketeering case were ordered to be remanded until the conclusion of the case by the Colombo High Court.
During today's hearing, High Court judge Vikum Kaluarachchi announced that indictments would be served on the accused when the case is taken up for further hearing on August 2.
Elephant racketeer Niraj Roshan alias 'Ali Roshan' is also among the acused in the case.
A bail request for the suspects had been rejected by court since the Attorney General (AG) had decided against releasing the suspects on bail.
According to the Criminal Procedure Code, under which the suspects have been charged, the permission of the AG is required to release the suspects on bail.
Charges have been levelled against the suspects under the Public Property Act as well.
