Tamil prisoners who temporarily suspended a hunger strike launched in jails last month, demanding their immediate release, have resumed the strike after the government did not release them as promised, local media reported.
More than 200 Tamil prisoners including former LTTE combatants at the main prison in Colombo went on a hunger strike demanding their immediate release.
The fast was suspended after the President promised to release the former LTTE cadres imprisoned for minor offenses before November 7.
