The Inland Revenue Department has opened investigations on companies who fail to pass on the benefit of the reduced VAT/NBT to its consumers.
Commissioner General of the Inland Revenue Nadun Guruge said that they have started monitoring tax returns of companies to ensure that benefits are being passed on to the companies.
He said that on a directive given by President Gotabaya Rajapaksa they are monitoring the situation so that the customers benefit from the reductions.
He said, action will be taken to recover the money if the companies fail to pass the benefit.
