A teenager has died after being attacked during a clash with a lorry driver in Katugampala, Giriulla yesterday (Nov 17).
Police said that two persons travelling on a motorcycle had been knocked over while attempting to overtake a lorry when the driver had opened the door of the vehicle.
An argument which ensued between the victims and the lorry driver had led to the assault of the motorcyclist who had died upon admission to the Dambadeniya Base Hospital.
The deceased has been identified as a 19-year old resident of Katugampala. A magisterial inquest is to be carried out on his remains today.
Police Spokesman Ruwan Gunasekara said that the lorry driver and his assistant who have been identified as a Police Constable in Pannala and his son.
