The term of the Presidential Commission of Inquiry (CoI) that was appointed to probe the Easter Sunday attacks has been extended until January 31, 2021.
The Commission was appointed by former President Maithripala Sirisena in September last year to identify the flaws that led to the attacks despite many warnings issued by a foreign intelligence agency of a neighbouring country.
The Commission consists of Chairman of the Commission Court of Appeal Judge, Janak de Silva and Court of Appeal Judge, Nishshanka Bandula Karunarathna, Retired High Court Judges Nihal Sunil Rajapaksa, A.L. Bandula Kumara Atapattu and former Secretary of the Ministry of Justice, W.M.M.R. Adikari.
The Commission called for testimonies of former President Maithripala Sirisena, former Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe and senior ministers in the former government in addition to top officials in the Defense Ministry.
