Thirty three local fishermen held for illegal fishing

Naval personnel in Nachchikuda in the North Central Naval Command arrested 33 persons for engaging illegal fishing activities in the general area of Anthonipuram on Saturday, navy said.

Approximately 1500 sea cucumbers, three fishing dhows and a FGD were also seized from the fishermen. The arrested persons, along with belongings and sea cucumbers were handed over to the officials of the Assistant Director Fisheries, Mannar for onward action.
