Thirty -two motorcyclists who were arrested by the Piliyandala police for reckless riding were fined Rs 737,000 by the Kesbewa Magistrate today (Nov 26).
The motorcyclists were arrested along with 14 motorcycles on November 10 along the Jaloyagoda-Kesbewa alternative route.
Police said the motorcyclists have been identified as those between the ages of 19 and 30 and are residents of Pannipitiya, Kottawa and Moratumulla.
Accordingly, 15 motorcyclists were fined Rs 24,500 each, while 13 were fined with Rs 21,500 and four others fined
Rs 22,500.
A short while later, the official car of the Commander of the Navy, bearing plate NAHA 5006, departed from Navy House, Longdon Place, Colombo 7.
