Around three acres of forest land had been destroyed at a forest area in Thiraimadu, Batticaloa yesterday (Jun 24), police said.
The fire was doused by the Police, tri-forces, area residents, the fire service of the Batticaloa Municipal Council, and the Disaster Management Centre.
No casualties had been reported due to the incident.
Batticaloa Police are investigating further to determine the cause of the fire.
